Scale Model Toys are a fraction of the size of the original piece of equipment. When you see "1/16 scale model", that is 1/16 the size of the original piece of equipment. Another way to look at it is, 1/16 scale model measures one inch for every sixteen inches of the original piece of equipment. To visualize a 1/16 scale, imagine 16 of the toy tractors lined up side by side and you will have the length of the original tractor. Then stack 16 toy tractors on top of each other and that is the height of the original tractor. You will also see, 1/32 and 1/50 scale models. Because these are fractions, the larger the bottom number, the smaller the toy. Because each original piece of equipment is unique in size the scale models are approximates. Thus, here are rough estimates for scale model toys:

1/8 scale model = 15-21" long x 9-11" wide x 11-15" tall

1/16 scale model = 7-12" long x 3-6" wide x 3-8" tall

1/32 scale model = 6-7" long x 4-6" wide x 5-7" tall

1/43 scale model = 3-4" long x 3-4" wide x 3-4" tall

1/50 scale model (Construction Toys) = 4-7" long x 3" wide x 3-4" tall

1/64 scale model = 2" long x 1 1/2" wide x 1 1/2" tall

1/87 scale model = 1" long x 1" wide x 1" tall
